A Visit to Chocolate Ville: A Fairytale Hideaway Beyond Bangkok’s Bustle
Chocolate Ville sounds like some kind of chocolate-tasting venue, doesn’t it? Well, while that wouldn’t be a bad idea either, it actually has nothing to do with chocolate at all.
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. And while it might feel a bit strange blogging about Halloween just weeks before Easter, I can’t shake off the lasting impression from my visit to this whimsical park during my last visit in Thailand.
I visited Bangkok last September, and during a layover on my way there, I was scrolling through Instagram. The algorithm must have figured out my interests because, sure enough, a Halloween-themed post from Bangkok popped up on my feed! Instantly, it reminded me of The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Croton-on-Hudson, which I had visited during my trip to NYC in 2016. I told my travel partner that we might have a new must-do on our itinerary!

Getting to Chocolate Ville
It was a Sunday evening when we ordered a cab to Chocolate Ville. Anyone who has visited Bangkok knows how wild the traffic can be. But before long, we found ourselves escaping the congestion of central Bangkok and speeding down the highway. After about 25 minutes, we arrived at this neon-lit oasis. For those who want to know the distance: It’s around 20 km (12.4 miles) from Terminal 22 in Sukhumvit.

After paying the entrance fee and stepping inside, I was instantly hit with Halloween vibes. Giant pumpkins, skeletons, and grinning monsters greeted us in the Halloween corner, setting the mood right away.
As we entered the main area, the decorations became even more dazzling, with neon lights sparkling everywhere. And, while part of the space had Halloween elements, the majority of the décor resembled scenes from a fairy tale, with cute and charming touches at every turn.
The area itself wasn’t huge, but there was so much to see. Different themed rooms added to the charm: one room, for instance, featured a stunning display of colorful lamps.
The Main Attraction: The Restaurant

Now, what’s the main draw at Chocolate Ville aside from snapping Instagram-worthy photos? It’s the restaurant!
The dining experience really won me over. To start, ordering was a breeze: you simply scan a QR code with your phone to access the menu. The selection was impressively varied, offering everything from Western classics like burgers and pizza to traditional Thai dishes.
I had expected the food to be mediocre, as is often the case at “family-friendly” venues, but Chocolate Ville proved me wrong. The food was genuinely delicious and far exceeded my expectations! And yes, for those who wonder, the prices are absolutely reasonable (especially for this kind of venue).
So what else is celebrated in Chocolate Ville apart from Halloween?
The park has different themes depending on which holiday is approaching. I visited the park in mid-September, when they had their Halloween theme. From following the park on social media, I noticed that a few days after Halloween they switched to the Christmas theme, which gives their visitors a chance to experience a winter wonderland in the middle of the tropics.

On New Year’s Eve, they had a countdown with a spectacular firework show. And in January 2025, it was time for the celebration of the Chinese New Year, finishing with a firework show. The park also celebrates other Western holidays such as Valentine’s Day, as well as local ones such as Songkran and Loy Krathong.
I would recommend anyone planning a visit to the park to check Chocolate Ville’s social media to see which holiday is currently on display.
Is Chocolate Ville Worth the Trip?

Absolutely! Despite being a bit of a drive from central Bangkok, I’d say Chocolate Ville is definitely worth visiting. Between the enchanting decorations and surprisingly good food, it offers a memorable experience that’s perfect for families and Instagram enthusiasts alike. Again, the park itself is not big, but it definitely leaves a lasting impression. The restaurant itself is worth the drive, offering great food in a unique and fun setting.
In conclusion, I’d wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Chocolate Ville, especially if you’re traveling with kids or just looking for a unique and enchanting experience outside central Bangkok. Despite the distance, it’s well worth the trip, particularly if you’re staying in the city for a few days and aren’t on a tight schedule. Whether you’re chasing Instagram-worthy photos, festive vibes, or a tasty meal, Chocolate Ville has something for everyone.
